April Showers bring.....

“April Showers bring May flowers”

You have probably heard this old adage a time or two in your life, the weather can be iffy this time of year, sometimes rain and the next day snow or even super warm weather. What you can do is take advantage of the sunny days to get a head start prepping the ground for the planting season.

Cleaning up what you were unable to last fall and the happy little weeds that are trying to invade your space is a great start! Just be sure it is a weed and not one of your little beauties poking its head up before you pull it.

Whether you plant flowers and /or a vegetable garden, digging in the dirt can be relaxing and nurturing for the soul with the great feeling of accomplishment when you see the fruits of your labor coming to fruition (pun intended). Plants can be finicky about what they like, just check the labels to see if they are shade or sun lovers, even then sometimes they don’t do as well as you would like. But no need to stress about it, move them around or gift the stubborn ones to another fellow gardener until you find the ones that thrive in your environment. Look for the communities that have plant exchanges, it is a great way to try different types of plants at little to no cost.

A great way to end your day is to relax outside and enjoy what you brought about by “ diggin in the dirt” 
