Summer Events 2018 – Yoga and Tai Chi

This summer Lowell Community Wellness is brining back both Yoga and Tai Chi on the Riverwalk!  Yoga is on Monday nights at 7pm and Tai Chi is on Tuesday nights at 7pm.  There is a suggested donation of $5 per session.  There are no classes the week of July 4.  Meet near the showboat and invite a friend!  Class will be cancelled at 6pm in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms.  Check out our Facebook page for updates!

2018 Lowell Health Expo

The Lowell Health Expo is scheduled for August 16 from 10am to 3pm.  This annual event presented by Lowell Community Wellness is held in conjunction with Pink Arrow Community Day!  Our focus is to promote health and wellness for community through information and education.   This is a wonderful opportunity for health experts to gain exposure for the business and to bring awareness to the community.  Samples, hands-on exhibits, educational flyers and contact information are encouraged.  If you are interested in joining in click the links below for more info and application.

Tai Chi Classes begin January 30th

8 week Tai Chi session, led by Dr. John Mogor, beginning Tuesday night January 30 at the Lowell United Methodist Church, 621 E Main St, Lowell, MI 49331

Classes begin at 7:00 PM.

Lowell Community Wellness Self Defense Class

Lowell Community Wellness is pleased to offer the 2nd  Self-Defense Course for Women, to be held Thursday, January 25, from 5:30- 8:30 PM at Northern Physical Therapy (2050 W. Main St, Lowell).

This course, led by Sandra Thelen is limited to 20 women (ages 13 and up), and will be filled on a first come, first-served basis.  The cost is $18 per person, with additional funding provided by Lowell Community Wellness. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

Smoking Cessation Class in 2017

Lowell Community Wellness is pleased to support a Smoking Cessation Class beginning Tuesday, February 21st, from 6-9 PM at the Lowell Family Medical Center.  This six-week session is open to the public, free of charge, and is supported by the Pink Arrow Project.  Registration is encouraged, please call 6160446-7058.

Winter Outdoor Skills Class

Join Lowell Wellness and the Fortune Bay Expedition Team for one of the best courses in the midwest one winter outdoor skills.

This course is for beginners and intermediate adventurers who want to learn about camping and thriving in the winter conditions.   The course is based on the National Ski Patrol Curriculum for their Ski Patrollers.  Additional information about keeping warm, properly setting up shelter, sleeping, travel and much more.   The course has two parts – first a lecture at the Englehart Library.   Students can sign up for the lecture only and learn all about winter skills.   For those wishing for more of a challenge, the course continues with a practical exercise in Northern Michigan on the shore of Lake Michigan.   Learn all about the basics, tricks, tips and advanced skills from the best instructors in the state.

Lecture is held on January 8th, 2017 at the Englehart Library from 1 pm to 5 pm.
The practical starts the afternoon of January 20th until January 22nd in Wilderness State Park.
